RAVE ROUGH arcIndie 2024 demo
A downloadable game for Windows
Rave Rough is a comedic and chaotic puzzle platformer about chucking your very disposable vinyl collection to bounce your way throughout many platforming challenges! All the while butting heads with wacky friends and foes! Levels are very open ended and the moveset compliments this, with you having a lot of freedom to tackle challenges in all sorts of different ways.
The artstyle is HEAVILY inspired by shows such as Invader Zim and Super Milk Chan, along with all kinds of 2000s internet animations. Music is inspired by many 2000s video games (e.g. Jet Set Radio) and compliments the game's bombastic vibe. This crazy cartoony atmosphere is not just an aesthetic thing though, some levels have a chance to take some WIIIILD turns that'll keep even the LOWEST attention spans entertained.
As for the story, well...
THE YEAR IS 50XX, HUMANITY IS GONE AND THE ONLY REMANENCE OF THEM IS MUSIC. ALIENS INVADED EARTH A WHILE AFTER THE EXTINCTION AND BUILT THEIR SOCIETY AROUND HUMANITY'S MUSIC CULTURE. However that's WAYYY too much dramatic backstory! In the present, the BIGGEST musician in the world is holding a massive contest. The prize? THE ULTIMATE SAMPLE CD!! Whoever gets to the top of his private HQ first, wins! This little contest gets the attention of mania amateur DJ, including our protagonist Scat who'll do anything for it!
Though for this demo, it takes place after the full game's story. The illusive CD-R[OAR], game's first boss, has had become a better person since Scat would of had originally thought them. CDR invites Scat to a "technical institute" (wink wink) for a fun little rematch.
Demo contents:
- 3 Levels
- 1 bossfight
- Scat dress up game
- 1 player character (there's weird stuff with the character select screen atm so changing characters is disabled)

Good stuff you've got.
The vinyl tossing can be a bit wonky but it's fun regardless.
looks like something classyjitto would work on in his free time
